2. Default Match Time and Match Format
There are no default match times for individual-simulator courses. All scores for each week must be submitted by Fridays at 5:00 pm CT.
The regular season will follow a season leaderboard format.
Season Leaderboard:
- Golfers will submit their best score on the listed course once per week to the Fenworks Platform, along with screenshots to support their claim.
- Once a week has ended, the platform will assign point values based on that golfer’s rank for that week.
- Golfers have unlimited attempts each week until Friday at 5:00 pm CT to submit their scores, after which the league will move to the next week’s course. A golfer cannot submit a late score for a previous week’s course.
- Golfers will receive points based on their weekly ranks, which will accumulate throughout the season. By the end of the season, the golfers at the top of the season leaderboard will qualify for the Finals Tournament. Point values will be determined at the end of registration, pending the number of teams.
2.1 Season:
- The season will run as one week of preseason, five weeks of regular season, and a LAN State Tournament for the top qualifying players.
- Preseason: Preseason matches will function like a regular-season match, in that players will still need to check in and report their scores. Results of preseason matches do NOT count towards your regular season record and do not affect qualification for the State Tournament. Players or teams that miss all their scheduled preseason matches will be dropped from the league unless prior communication is made with Fenworks staff and permission is granted to miss the matches.
- Regular Season: The regular season will run for 5 weeks, with 18 holes of golf at one course each week. Players will submit their best score each week and receive points based on their weekly ranking. Players have the full week to submit their best score. Top players based on regular-season point results will be invited to the State Tournament.
- Finals Tournament: The State Tournament will be conducted as an in-person or online, three-course round, with all participants competing on three separate courses. Each invited player will get only one play-through on each of the three courses. The total score across all three courses will be used to determine the winners.
- Total Qualifiers: TBD
3. Players
Each golfer will submit their individual scores to the Fenworks Platform to get ranked each week. Substitutions are not allowed. If a golfer doesn’t submit their time by the deadline, they will receive no points for that week.
3.1 Accounts
Golfers can use personal or school/college/local business-owned accounts. We recommend that a golfer uses the same account throughout the season; however, it is not required. (ex. If you use the “school/college/local business name01” account, please use it all season.)
4. Lobby Setup and Process
If the incorrect settings are used, the round must be restarted immediately. If previous rounds were under the wrong settings, then they are void and will not be considered in calculating standings points. It is up to the golfer and their GM to review the settings and make sure they are correct. Use of incorrect settings is considered cheating and could result in a school-wide penalty.
If your version of the simulator uses different names/titles for the settings listed, try to match the corresponding settings below. If you are unsure, ask a league admin for guidance.
4.3 Course List
- The official course list will be announced at the beginning of each season and posted on the Fenworks platform. Fenworks has the right to change the course list at any time during the season.
5. Restrictions
No outside influence: Any instance of an outside influence will be determined as cheating and will be subject to consequences as outlined in our General Rules. Examples of outside influence are having another golfer hit a shot for you, using a nonstandard device other than a golf club, simulator hacks or exploits, or anything else that would give you an unfair advantage outside the bounds of this ruleset.
Modifications to the simulator settings: Any golfer found to have modified the settings to give them an unfair advantage will be subject to disqualification.
Redoing/taking mulligans: Mulligans or replaying a hole is not allowed. You can, however, restart an entire round if you would like, but any instance of redoing a shot once a round has started is considered cheating. This includes a misread hit by the simulator.
6. Stoppage of Play and Player Disconnects
In the event of a disconnect once a course has started, the disconnected player may rejoin at any point as long as their current score is saved. If not, then they will have to replay the entire course.
7. Outside communication
Teams/players may communicate with a coach before teeing off and after putting it into the cup on each hole while playing. No coaches or other spectators may speak with that team/player while a hole is actively being played.
8. Tactical Pauses
Pauses during a round are allowed at any time in the preseason and regular season.
During tournaments where multiple golfers are playing at the same time, a player is allowed up to 5 minutes to pause, and each player may request 2 pauses per course (per 18 holes).
9. Checking In and Reporting Scores
A player or GM should check in the participating player for that match on the Fenworks platform match page before they begin playing the course for that week.
If a player fails to check in to the Fenworks platform before the default weekly reset time, they will be recorded as a forfeit loss for the match.
Scores will be reported using the Fenworks platform score reporting tool
- Players and GMs are responsible for reporting scores and saving replays/screenshots that prove their claim
- All reported results must have a screenshot attached in Fenworks platform
All scores must be reported immediately after the round has been completed. Players may continue to try for a better score until Friday at 5 pm CST each week. The most recent submission in the Fenworks platform will be used as the official result.
Scores should be reported as the total stroke score for all 18 holes of the listed course.
- Example:
- 85
Fenworks staff have the right to adjust submissions if evidence is presented to support the claim.
10. Player Eligibility
A player is any participant who plays in an official match. All players:
- Must be enrolled in the school they are representing
- Homeschooled players may participate with a school if they live within the district boundaries of the school district in question and have received approval from the district.
- Must be 13 years or older, in 7th – 12th grade, and be 21 years old or younger.
- A player may play for only one high school in the same school district.
- Must meet and maintain the district’s eligibility requirements for GPA and attendance to be eligible to play. School Administrators and GMs are responsible for following and enforcing this policy and their school policy. Fenworks suggests a 2.0 GPA or higher to participate.
*Eligibility is subject to change at the League’s discretion, but must be communicated to all schools before any changes take effect.
10.1 Roster Changes and Substitutions
Individual:
Substitute players are not allowed for individual leagues. If a player cannot complete their round in a week, they will not receive a score.
11. Coaching
Due to rules and regulations set forth by the state athletics organization, a person cannot coach the same group of students for both the simulator golf league and their official athletic organization’s golf season.
- For example, the boys’ golf coach for the official SDHSAA, NDHSAA, or MSHSL golf season cannot coach the boys’ simulator golf team in the same year, BUT they could coach the girls’ simulator golf team.
12. Spectators
Teams are allowed to stream their rounds without exception.
13.Names/Usernames
A player’s name in-game must match the name they registered for that game on their Fenworks platform profile. This includes our Discord community. See the Code of Conduct for additional guidelines as well. All participants’ names or profiles are prohibited from including:
- Gang Affiliation
- Drugs (including alcohol and tobacco)
- Sexual Material
- Offensive Material
- Politically Charged Symbols/Images
- Homophobic or Racially Insensitive Material
- Anything else at the discretion of
14. Cheating
Any manipulation of gameplay, including but not limited to scripts, 3rd party applications, settings changes, use of unauthorized equipment, or having another person play on an official player’s account during match time, will be considered cheating. Players must also follow the Code of Conduct. Any team or player caught cheating will be subject to the items outlined in section 17.
15. Harassment
Players and coaches must always abide by the Fenworks Code of Conduct. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action, as outlined in the following section.
16. Disciplinary Action
If Fenworks decides that a Player has violated any of the Rules, Fenworks may take the following disciplinary actions (as applicable). More information can also be found in the Code of Conduct:
- Verbal Warning
- Game and/or Match forfeiture
- Issuance of Public warning (Verbal or written) to the Player
- Disqualification of the Player from participating in one or more Matches of the Tournament.
- Stoppage of the Player from participating in one or more future competitions hosted by Fenworks.
- Stoppage of the School from participating in one or more future competitions hosted by Fenworks.
If a Player is suspended/banned by a Fenworks Representative, they will be notified via email and/or Discord. Within 30 days of the initial penalty, an appeal can be sent by the coach or program coordinator representing the Player. Please send all appeals via email to [email protected].
17. Spirit of the Rules
Finality of Decisions
All decisions regarding the interpretation of these rules, player eligibility, scheduling and staging of the Tournaments, and penalties for misconduct lie solely with Fenworks Officials, and their decisions are final. This includes the exclusive right to make definitive rulings on matters not specified within the rules and handbook.
Amendments
Fenworks may update, revise, change, or modify these Rules at any time to ensure fair play and the league’s integrity. Each player’s participation in Fenworks after any update, revision, change, or modification to these Rules will be deemed as acceptance by such Player of these Rules as updated, revised, changed, or modified.
