What it is

What is Unified
Esports?

For a lot of students, school happens around them, not with them. Unified Esports changes that.

It's part of Unified Champion Schools (UCS), the Special Olympics inclusion model, putting students with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, and the ones who usually sit out end up leading. It fits the work you're already doing under MTSS, PBIS, SEL, and equity goals.

MTSS — Multi-Tiered System of Supports  ·  PBIS — Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports  ·  SEL — Social and Emotional Learning

The three core components

01

Inclusive (Unified) Sports

Students with and without intellectual disabilities participate together on the same teams.

  • Esports leagues & tournaments
  • Unified teams: basketball, track, soccer, bowling
  • Inclusive physical education
  • Unified intramurals & fitness
PurposeTo promote teamwork, peer relationships, and shared achievement through play.
02

Youth Leadership

Students take active leadership roles in promoting inclusion.

  • Esports & peer-to-peer leadership
  • Inclusion campaigns
  • Student leadership teams
  • Awareness & service-learning
PurposeTo empower students as change agents, not passive participants.
03

Whole School Engagement

Inclusion extends beyond teams and clubs into the broader school environment.

  • Inclusive assemblies & school events
  • Unified tournaments & gaming nights
  • Spirit weeks centered on inclusion
  • Integration with PBIS, MTSS & SEL
PurposeTo embed inclusion in the school's systems, not isolate it to extracurriculars.
